Catriona MacKinnon

Born in Glasgow in 1984, Catriona began the oboe at the age of ten studying with Stephen West.

In 2001, Catriona moved to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music with some of Britain's finest oboe professors. In 2003 Catriona went on an exchange to Leipzig, Germany for a semester where she studied with Christian Wetzel. In 2004 she took part in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition where she was a woodwind finalist.

Since graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in July 2006 with a BMus and Post Graduate Diploma, Catriona has enjoyed playing in a wide variety of musical ensembles. She currently holds the position of Principal Oboe of Welsh National Opera. She has also enjoyed performing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, Scottish Ballet and Ulster Orchestra.
