Scottish violist Fiona Winning studied at St Mary's Music School and the RNCM before graduating from the Juilliard School, New York in 2001. Now based in London, Fiona enjoys a busy and varied performance schedule as chamber and orchestral musician. She is currently Principal Violist of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and appears regularly as guest principal with many of the country's leading orchestras, most recently the London Philharmonic and Scottish Chamber Orchestras. She is also a member of the Scottish Ensemble, with whom she has performed at the BBC Proms, the Wigmore Hall and the Edinburgh International, Aldeburgh, Lichfield and City of London Festivals. The Ensemble regularly broadcasts live on BBC Radio 3. Fiona was a founder member of Ensemble na Mara, with whom she won the Royal Overseas League chamber music competition and performed at the Wigmore and Cadogan Halls, the Edinburgh Festival and throughout the UK. Other chamber music highlights include performances with Ensemble 3.
